Clarkson The Butt Of Jokes In BBC Comeback
Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson bore the brunt of a series of gags as he filmed an episode of Have I Got News For You, his first time on the BBC since his ignominious departure earlier this year.
In a segment about the beleaguered auto maker Volkswagen, he made a sly reference to Clarkson’s Top Gear successor, saying: “I think it’s one of those questions you need an expert on cars to deal with…”
Jeremy Clarkson got in a mood with a floor manager on his return to the BBC – because he was desperate for a cigarette.
Richard Osman on Clarkson’s new employers: “This wouldn’t happen on Amazon Prime”.
The news panel show will air tonight, with Clarkson alongside regulars Ian Hislop and Paul Merton.
Clarkson did not reply to the barb, which was one of many from Osman, who quickly became a favourite among viewers from Twitter.
“Yeah – apart from the pay rise”.
But after a lengthy discussion on motoring, he said: “What are they going to do, f****** sack me?” F***ing sack me? They can’t. “It’s quite good fun”.
“You remember how to punch don’t you?”
Responding to a negative remark about Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, he looks pointedly at Clarkson and remarks: ‘A man called Jeremy who has extreme views and won’t be in a job for long…’
But Clarkson was happy to make jokes at his own expense, the Radio Times said, once insisting he was forbidden to discuss motoring matters.
Camilla then went on to tell Clarkson that he was “very naughty” for hitting the producer over the catering, to which Jeremy agreed, before getting in a few funnies himself….
Clarkson was suspended by the BBC on 10 March before it was announced his contract would not be renewed.
The outspoken star was this week’s host on Have I Got News For You, and panellist Richard Osmon was sure to give Jeremy a ribbing.
