Classes set to resume as school after fatal bus accident
The accident happened at the elementary school during its dismissal.
The procession made its way into Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson Sunday afternoon on its way to a private ceremony inside the grounds.
Jordan was killed Tuesday when a school bus jumped a curb and struck her and two 10-year-old students. The school posted an article on its website about dealing with grief.
At least 800 people said farewell to Susan Jordan on Saturday.
WXIN-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1QxVZfT ) some young students held flowers and wore Amy Beverland shirts. “She knew every student”, he said.
Students and staff will return to Amy Beverland Elementary for class Monday for the first time since the death of their principal.
School officials spoke at the funeral, calling her a hero and saying she died doing what she loved.
And state Rep. John Bartlett told those in attendance that January 30 would forever be known as Susan Jordan Day in his district, where Amy Beverland Elementary is located.
The Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township has named Connie Thomas as interim principal while the district searches for a new principal.
Police also said investigators did not find any mechanical issues with the bus. The fund is administered by the Lawrence Township School Foundation.
Jordan’s daughter, Lisa Jankowski, thanked those at the service, saying she and her sister, Amy Dinwiddle, were honored by the show of support for their mother.
