Clean Sport India Offers Support to Kirti Azad
Meanwhile, four senior BJP leaders – Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Shanta Kumar and Yashwant Sinha – who had lashed out at the party on November 10, for the crushing defeat it suffered in the elections to the Bihar Legislative Assembly, met today to discuss recent developments.
The former cricketer claimed that BJP leader Subramanian Swamy would help draft his reply to the suspension notice.
Kirti Azad and Bishan Singh Bedi have been vocal about the wide-spread corruption in Delhi and District Cricket Association.
Azad said that he has been raising the issue of alleged corruption at the DDCA for last 9 years but never made it a party issue.
The sources said the veterans were of the perspective the Bharatiya Janata Party administration did not take after the correct strategy while acting against Azad, a three-time Lok Sabha part from Bihar and child of previous Bihar CM Bhagwat Jha Azad.
“In all fairness and in keeping with the tenets of equity, I look forward to being provided an opportunity to clear my name on the serious charges of having acted against the party’s interests”, Azad said in his letter to Shah.
A veteran was quoted by a news organisation, where he said that the issue related to Azad’s suspension will be considered as the background of the meeting.
BJP chief Amit Shah had ordered Azad’s suspension on Wednesday for publicly targeting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley with allegations of irregularities in DDCA during his tenure.
Given his unprecedented rebellion in BJP’s history – which also included an attack on Jaitley on the floor of Parliament and through multiple posts on Twitter – it was expected that the party will wait for the Parliament’s Winter Session to be over before taking action.
Shatrughan Sinha, who hasn’t exactly been in the good books of the party top brass called Azad “a hero”. Azad has threatened more expose against DDCA.
“But politics should not stoop to this level which is unhealthy for the country”, he said Chhina also lashed out at Kirti Azad”.
Azad said he had full faith in PM Modi and would expect him to do justice.
Although Azad’s campaign against the alleged corruption in the DDCA began years ago, matters came to a head after Kejriwal took up the issue in a major way following a CBI raid on the Delhi Secretariat this month.
BJP has rallied around the finance minister with Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he will come out of it with flying colours.
They also suspect that Congress President Sonia Gandhi might have prompted Azad to rake up the issue.
