Clemson climbs to #1 in latest Coaches Poll
The Clemson football team is number one in the nation in both the AP and Coaches Poll that came out yesterday.
Clemson also is ranked No. 1 by the College Football Playoff committee, which updates its ranking Tuesday night.
Elsewhere across the SEC, the aforementioned Alabama Crimson Tide moved up to No. 3, the LSU Tigers dropped down to No. 17 following their loss to Arkansas and Mississippi State moved down into a tie at No. 25 with Ole Miss.
Florida’s remaining regular season opponent to be ranked by the Coaches Poll is Florida State, who comes in at No. 16.
Three Pac-12 teams with three losses each entered the top 25, with USC at No. 22, OR back in the rankings at No. 23, and Washington State at No. 24. It’s Clemson’s first No. 1 ranking since USA Today took charge of the coaches poll in 1991.
The No. 1 Clemson Tigers jumped over the Buckeyes despite only garnering 28 first place votes. Notre Dame is No. 5 and unbeaten Iowa moved up two spots to No. 6.
Oklahoma, MI State and North Carolina all had the biggest rises in the AP poll, each moving up five spots.
