Clemson goes for longest win streak in school history
Boston College true freshman quarterback Jeff Smith will make his first career start tomorrow at Clemson according to the school’s official Twitter account.
After beating Notre Dame and Georgia Tech, Clemson looks like the class of the ACC. The Tigers have been maligned for “Clemsoning” – losing big games when highly ranked – but coach Dabo Swinney correctly pointed out that Clemson is actually a very reliable victor. Can they pile them on against at stout Clemson defense?
“We expect to be No. 1 at the end”.
“We could score, ” said defensive tackle Connor Wujciak. BC’s top-ranked defense, which is allowing 98.7 pass yards and 41.7 rush yards per game this season, will face off against an offense averaging 35.4 points and 431.8 yards per game.
While he’s had to play more of a psychologist’s role than game strategist of late – managing the psyches of younger players who are playing expanded roles – Addazio is encouraged by the fact that his offense has been able to possess the ball (32:38) and move it (214.0 rushing yards per game). “If we lock in and not give up the chunk plays, the game is easy for us”.
“It might be 2-0. If you go in and try to play mind games with people, then you’re just full of BS and that’s not what it’s about”. “Boston College is a big challenge for us”.
The Clemson Tigers play the Boston College Eagles in one of the college football games on Saturday, October 17 start time at 7:00 PM ET, at Memorial Stadium, SC. The Tigers seem to be hitting their stride, but they need style points for the College Football Playoff committee.
“We’re not a national championship team yet, but we don’t have to be”.
The Boston College Eagles quickly moved on from last Saturday’s loss to Wake Forest.
“We’ve got to win the turnover battle, ” Simmons said.
This game has the potential to be close, with two very good defenses, and Boston College has proven it can play close games against good teams, like Florida State.
The Tigers aren’t overly concerned with the scoreboard, as long as they come out on top.
“When you go on the road you pack your defense, and I think we have a hell of a defense”. “Pretty much as long as we keep winning and keep our eyes looking straight ahead, not paying attention to all the hype, we’ll be OK”.
“We just go out there knowing that we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard each week, ” Simmons said.
Said offensive lineman Eric Mac Lain: “We just have to control what we can control, keep taking care of business, and hopefully we’ll be in that top four when the season concludes”.
