Clemson hands Miami worst lost ever
They had the No. 6 Clemson Tigers right where they wanted them.
“Obviously an awesome win for our guys”, Swinney said. “Are they accomplishing the fact that I am aware or someone’s aware that they’re not happy with the results that Al has had on the field? It was just one of those games where it went all our way”.
Pittsburgh (6-1) moved to the Orange 6 before kicker Chris Blewitt drilled a 24-yard field goal on the last play of the game.
The Hurricanes fell to 4-3 in absorbing the worst defeat in the history of their program, which started in 1925.
It’s been a long descent for the Miami Hurricanes, and this performance looks like rock bottom for The U. Even then though, it seems unlikely that Al Golden will be fired. They said the Trojans’ glory days were behind them. “It might be a better Clemson team because I don’t feel like we’ve played our best yet”, said Kearse, who finished his high school career at South Fort Myers after transferring from Cypress Lake. Dabo Swinney has given us a few great moments and sound bites so far this season as well, along with a few great locker room dancing.
Cain came into the game second on the team in receiving yards (263) and fourth in receptions (13) and averaging 43.8 yards per catch.
Kearse acknowledged that Clemson is trying to build the type of storied program Miami was known for. It looks like there should be an exciting three-player race between Golson, Watson, and Miami’s Brad Kaaya for All-ACC First Team Quarterback honors.
Just when it appeared the game could not get any worse, redshirt senior receiver Rashawn Scott, who was still in for the Canes despite the 51-point deficit, suffered a serious injury on Miami’s next drive and needed help leaving the field. He was replaced by freshman Malik Rosier, who completed 7 of 22 passes for 42 yards with two interceptions. He hasn’t allowed a touchdown pass in his last 16 games, and Kearse is one of the most feared safeties in the ACC because of his size (6-foot-5, 220 pounds) and physical play.
The Tigers scored touchdowns on their first four possessions to take a 28-0 lead early in the second quarter and had 180 yards in total offense by that point.
Instead, they let it get to the point that a blimp goes over Sun Life Stadium and there’s about a thousand people there because Miami is getting annihilated. That win was a key bounce back game since they lost to rival FSU the prior week.
“We need to get ready for Duke”, he said. I fell just a little short for a touchdown, but it felt good. Clemson’s only other 58-point margin of victory in an ACC game came in 1981 when it beat Maryland 82-24.
The second half featured a ton of players by Clemson on both sides of the ball.
Tight end Jordan Leggett took a screen pass from Watson 37 yards for the Tigers’ first score of the game.
