Cleric suspended after selfies with Pakistan’s ‘Kim Kardashian’
The internet sensation is yet again in news and this time for getting a cleric suspended from his post.
A Ruet-e-Hilal Committee cleric who posed for selfies with a controversial model famed for her suggestive photos has been suspended from the group, the country’s religious affairs ministry said, rebuking him for his behavior.
As per details, Mushtaq Naeemi, filed the application and submitted that Mufti Abdul Qavi hurt Muslims’ sentiments by making selfies with model Qandeel Baloch.
Talking to DawnNews, Qavi said it was Baloch herself who had requested a meeting and came to meet him at a hotel.
In the video which was uploaded on Baloch’s Facebook account, Qavi is seen saying he will guide the starlet on religious matters and she had agreed to become his student.
Baloch posted the pictures with Mufti Abdul Qav on her Facebook and Twitter page on June 20 which have gone viral with thousands of shares.
The selfies were uploaded by Baloch on Monday. “Why would I ask for a meeting with him…in fact, he had told me during a TV program that he would like to lay his eyes on my face before witnessing the moon of Ramazan”, she said.
Ever since Qavi’s pictures with Baloch surfaced, social media was rife with speculation about his association with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) ulema wing.
“She wanted to have a meeting in order to get rid of a magic spell”, he said.
“I met Qandeel on her insistence and she has promised me that not only she will fast during Ramzan, she will also offer her prayers regularly”, he said. Another reason of gaining popularity was her video asking the Pakistani cricket team to win World Cup T20 against India earlier this year.
