Anyway, the Cavs did make one extra important move this summer: they signed former Charlotte guard Mo Williams to a deal.

“We love Tristan Thompson and we want him to be part of our future moving forward”, Griffin said Monday at the team’s annual media day at Cleveland Clinic Courts. “It’s certainly his right to do this”.

Other teams like the Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat and the Atlanta Hawks will still be among the favorites but the bottom line is that the Cavs need to properly manage their players and make sure that everyone is sturdy enough once winning time comes around.

As James points out, however, it will be all about going back to the basics.

James said injuries took a toll on the team last season and health would again be vital in having success. James and his teammates took the floor the following year with an edge. With all the fours on the roster, who was gonna argue? Meanwhile, Thompson will continue to fill holes around James, Mozgov, and Kyrie Irving with his inside scoring, redounding and length/energy/hustle on defense.

Shumpert was playing with a bad shoulder. “That whole year, it was like, there was no wait process”, James said. Yes, but I would have expected more progress by now. “We can build off the chemistry of a year ago, but we cant build off the success. To be fair, he, James and Irving were becoming quite formidable by the stretch run.

If you believe Thompson’s esteemed agent that means his days in Cleveland are numbered. Then, suddenly things fell through, and it was reported that Thompson felt that deal wasn’t on-par with what other big men got in free agency.

Responding to a question about his age and fitness, James said it was getting more hard as the years roll on.

I feel just as healthy as I did my rookie year? At this point, getting 10 solid minutes a night out of “Sideshow Bob” would be a bonus.

Well, that’s all well and good, but that’s not really what actually happened. Jefferson will, as always, do his best to destroy the organization form within.

It’s nearly better that there’s no timetable for the return of Love and Irving, as it sort of takes the pressure off as far as expecting them back.

If they can’t, the worst case scenarios in all of this – holdouts, qualifiers – are going to become the only direction these talks start heading.
