Clinton acknowledges delayed marriage evolution on ‘SNL’
Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton appeared on the Saturday Night Live and left fans in fits of laughter with her beer sketch with Kate McKinnon. Through “Val”, she said, “I’m just an ordinary citizen who believes the Keystone pipeline will destroy our environment”. Clinton was the last Democratic candidate to publicly oppose it. The real Clinton assured the fake Clinton on SNL, “There’s nothing wrong with taking your time”.
TINA FEY: And, you know, I’m just Sarah Palin.
During the show – which kicked off with Miley Cyrus mocking Kentucky clerk Kim Davis – “Hillary Clinton” (Kate McKinnon) and her aide, “Huma Abedin” (played by Cecily Strong), are grabbing a drink and talking strategy.
Trump responded to the sketch, saying that Taram Kilman’s impression of him was better than McKinnon’s portrayal of Clinton.
The opening monologue gave host Miley Cyrus a moment to address a few of the current events and she did so with a tribute song to the end of summer and those newsmakers we’ll never see again since their 15 minutes are up.
Sure, it was basically a giant Clinton campaign advertisement/endorsement (something later acknowledged and more-outright satirized during Weekend Update), but at least her Trump impression was funnier than most of the rest of the episode! Abilify is for people who think they can be president.
“First, I’m a grandmother”.
It’s not uncommon for celebrities, musicians, athletes, politicians, and others to make appearances in the venerated halls of Saturday Night Live after an SNL performer has made a name for himself/herself impersonating that person.
Hanging out with her lookalikes is an old trick for Clinton.
“SNL” needled real Hillary about her slowness in supporting gay marriage and opposing the Keystone pipeline.
When McKinnon complains that all anyone ever wants to talk about is Trump, Val acts surprised. Peppered through the skit were occasional comments from McKinnon on Clinton being “real”.
Hillary Clinton shared a beverage and a tune with Saturday Night Live’s version of herself.
In a nod to the past, former cast member Darrell Hammond showed up on a barstool as Bill Clinton, who takes a look at Clinton and McKinnon and says, “My god, they’re multiplying!”
