Clinton Backs Obama’s Move to Keep US Forces in Afghanistan
This is not your Clinton 2008 campaign. Clinton suggested this week that she would come into office ready for a fight.
Liberated she is – stylistically and substantively. Still, she said, she “never took it personally” that she had fallen behind Sanders here.
The 2016 Clinton campaign has no doubt that gender benefits Clinton.
The statement by the former president is in contrast with the statement of the Afghan government officials who welcomed decision by Obama to keep more troops in Afghanistan.
On Friday she said she would be willing to work with the opposing party. Twice when confronted with tough questions, Clinton deflected by invoking her gender. “I will proudly carry forward the record of Democratic achievement”, she said during a speech addressing Alabama Democrats in Hoover, Ala. “I think being the first woman president would be quite a change from the presidents we’ve had up until this point, including President Obama”.
Karzai also criticized the way the announcement was made by President Obama and said the US President mentioned regarding the “Uncommon Phrase” of fighting seasons, which according to Karzai means that the war will continue for a long period of time and that the Afghan people should expect this.
If elected as the next president, Clinton spoke about a laundry-list of priorities similar to what Democrats have been pushing for in the White House and on Capitol Hill over Obama’s term.
Clinton said she last met with the vice president two months ago and pledged they would remain friends no matter what he decided. “I wouldn’t say they felt betrayed but they were angry at her. It didn’t feel like they were ready to forgive or let her into the sorority yet”. And his decision is one that I agree with.
