Clinton bounces back in poll after return from pneumonia
As if anyone needed proof that the 2016 election is absolutely freakish, please see this new Maine People’s Resource Center (a liberal think tank) poll that has Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton tied with 37 percent of the vote each. Trump led with white voters, 65%-35%.
Donald Trump raged at Hillary Clinton for “copying” his signature airplane rallies and criticized her for taking a day off campaigning.
The latest Monmouth poll was conducted September 16-19 using phone interviews with 400 likely Florida voters.
Among black voters, 98 percent chose Clinton, while 2 percent chose Trump.
The Libertarian candidate, Gary Johnson, whose name also will be on North Carolina ballots, got 6 percent of the vote. Twenty-three percent say Putin was a better leader.
Pointing to her Monday morning comment that Trump’s words give “aid and comfort” to Islamic extremists, his campaign said Clinton was accusing him of treason, going beyond the bounds of acceptable campaigning and trying to change the subject from her own failures. Trump was rated favorably by 32 percent of Florida likely voters and unfavorably by 56 percent, which is negative 24 points. A month ago, 72 percent NY voters saw him unfavorably.
If Cuomo runs for a third term in 2018, 45 percent said they were prepared to re-elect him, compared to 49 percent who would prefer “someone else”, the poll said.
By more than three-to-one, likely NY voters said they supported a pathway for citizenship for people in the country illegally. Independent voters will be a key target for the candidates in the September 26 debate at Hofstra University.
The 5-point margin has narrowed since the poll was released last month – Clinton was 9 points ahead at the time.
Sen. Chuck Schumer, a Democrat seeking a fourth term on Election Day, had a huge lead on his Republican foe, Wendy Long, the poll found.
Saint Leo said its survey of 475 likely Florida voters from September 10-16 has a margin of error of 5 percentage points.
