Clinton calls for additional debate next week ahead of NH primary

Sanders is about six years old than Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, who released her medical records in July. Sanders’ campaign staff and local supporters have said their presidential campaign is built on the same liberal, progressive principles that catapulted Wellstone into Minnesota politics and endeared him to so many Northland Democrats.

Martin O’Malley immediately announced he would participate, Hillary Clinton went from stating she would like the DNC to sanction the debate, to stating she would like all the candidates to participate, to her campaign stating she will participate and asking Bernie Sanders to participate.

The DNC, however, has an exclusivity clause that requires candidates to only participate in sanctioned debates.

If the debate happens, it would be the only Democratic debate scheduled between the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary – thanks to an effort from the Democratic National Committee to take full control of the debate schedule. Clinton’s campaign had pushed for fewer debates earlier in the campaign, but now says she will participate in the forum if her competitors do. The Vermont senator’s campaign has said it wouldn’t want to jeopardize its participation in two debates planned for after the New Hampshire primary in Wisconsin and Florida.

“We began this campaign nine months ago, and when we began the campaign, we had no money (and) no political organization”, Sanders said. And all of the three Democratic candidates must be invited. “I’ve been for, you know, for a long time, that I’d be happy to have more debates and I hope we can get this done”.

When asked if the paper had received any feedback on a debate that is so far unsanctioned by the national party, McQuaid responded, “sanctioned, is that what they do with Iran?”

It also seeks to emphasize the qualities that many Iowans have named as the most important factor in their decision to support her. Adding another debate before New Hampshire’s February 9 primary would give her a large television audience that might help her reach undecided voters.
