Clinton camp to Trump: ‘Hell no’ on apology
Clinton had said at the 2016 Democratic debate Saturday that Trump had become “ISIS’ best recruiter” and was featured in the organization’s recruitment videos.
Trump demanded an apology for Clinton’s claim at Saturday night’s Democratic debate that the real estate Trump’s rhetoric against Muslims is being used as propaganda by terrorist groups, though there is no evidence Islamic State has put him in videos. Rather than having a large-scale U.S. presence on the ground, Clinton said that she would want more U.S. Special Operation forces to train the Sunnis and Kurds in opposing ISIS.
A day after a rancorous dispute over a breach of private campaign data by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders’ campaign roiled the Democratic Party, a political truce between Hillary Clinton and Sanders largely held – even as Sanders’ aides seemed itching for a more aggressive confrontation with the front-runner.
On NBC’s “Meet the Press”, Sunday, Trump dismissed Clinton’s criticism, knocking her as a “liar” and “weak”.
“The United States at the same time can not successfully fight Assad and ISIS”, he said.
There was no evidence to back the claim, and a spokeswoman later said, “She didn’t have a particular video in mind”.
“The Iranians are getting more of a presence in Syria, linking with Hezbollah, their proxy in Lebanon, would threaten Israel and would make it more hard for us to move on a path to have a transition that at some point would deal with Assad’s future”, she said.
More than a dozen times, protesters began shouting during Trump’s speech, which was one of the most interrupted since he jumped into the presidential race in June.
“They’ll pick a couple of people out of the audience that are like, you know, 100 percent”.
For Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, that’s enough to indicate that Trump is helping, not hurting, the jihadist group. If ISIS was using Trump for recruitment videos, we would expect a frenzy of media coverage over it. We rate this claim False.
“It’s just another Hillary lie”, Trump said.
Politifact said, Clinton has shifted her position throughout the years, specifically from 2000 to 2008, and then from 2008 to 2015. And yet another ISIS sympathizer said, “I wonder if President Trump will allow Muslims to leave the U.S. for Dawlah [ISIS territory]”. He after appeared to acknowledge reports in that she got delayed waiting to use a restroom: “I do know where she went”.
Though it’s unclear whether ISIS – which is also known as the Islamic State, ISIL, and Daesh – has featured Trump in videos, the group does push the message of a clash of civilizations between Islam and the West. Some experts have argued that Trump’s rhetoric can be used as validation.
Clinton’s response came in the debate at the end of a lengthy exchange with rivals Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley on the proper strategy to adopt in Syria.
