Clinton campaigns in Quad Cities on Labor Day
Beginning Monday – with just 64 days left until the election – the Democratic presidential nominee, who has drawn fire for not holding press conferences is replacing her small, private jet with a significantly larger aircraft that she will not only share with her campaign staff, but with Secret Service staffers as well as reporters too.
Flanked by union leaders and Illinois Democrats, including Illinois Senate candidate Tammy Duckworth and longtime Sen. I am going to say no to rolling back collective bargaining.
“We’re going to run a campaign of issues, not insults”, Clinton said, to applause.
“I believe in fairness”. “I don’t care who you are, if you’re willing to work and do your part, you should be able to get ahead and stay ahead”.
Clinton also said she meant to return later for a more formal press gaggle.
Mrs. Clinton heads to Tampa, Florida tomorrow.
“She could have done anything in the world, but she chose the Children’s Defense Fund”, Eskelsen García said.
Earlier in the day, Clinton and her running mate, Tim Kaine, made a stop in Cleveland.
“Unions not only raise incomes and provide benefits for union members but because of unions everybody is better off”, said Clinton. “And with no unions, there’s no middle class”.
Brett Clark, a union member from Moline, viewed Trump’s plays to working class voters as empty campaign trail promises.
She told reporters that she was “so happy to have all of you with me”.
Ms. Fuhr said she has attended the annual event since she was a little girl, when her father stepped down off a tractor in order to take her to it. She also drew cheers by promising to reject “unfair trade deals” and she specifically lumped the Trans Pacific Partnership in that mix. Then she goes on her plane and I think she thought, ‘I needed to divert attention away from my hacking, from my coughing so let me speak to the press.’ That’s why she went on the plane and was so excited.
