Clinton Campaigns in Scranton With ‘The One, The Only’ Joe Biden

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is getting an assist from Joe Biden in Pennsylvania on Monday.

After declaring Clinton the “only person who will possibly help you” if you live in a town like where he grew up, Biden laid out a case for how a Donald Trump presidency could harm America’s national security.

Trump’s relish of the phrase “you’re fired”, made famous on his reality TV show, betrays his callousness, Biden said, citing the moral lessons he learned around the kitchen table at his grandfather Finnegan’s house on Diamond Street years ago. How can he care about the middle class? Give me a break.

“Hillary Clinton is going to write the next chapter in American history”, he said. Biden criticized Trump’s positive statements about Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his advocacy for non-nuclear powers like Japan to acquire their own nuclear weapons. “He would have loved Stalin”, Biden said, referring to the former dictator of the Soviet Union. Biden will take his working class message on the road to draw in more support for the Democratic nominee, who has recently taken a commanding lead against Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Clinton said wherever Biden goes “he’s always the same guy”. “It’s such a bunch of malarkey”, Biden told a crowd of about 3,000 at Riverfront Sports, adding: “He doesn’t have a clue”.

Clinton and Biden spoke ahead of Trump’s national security address in OH, taking turns to raise questions about the business mogul’s ability to represent the nation overseas.

“And he doesn’t seem to want to learn”, Biden said.

Biden heaped praise on Clinton, touting their shared working class roots and invoking the significance Clinton’s presidency will have on women and girls seeking higher office.

“If my son were still in Iraq and I say to all those who were there – the threat to their life has gone up a couple clicks”, he said.

The vice president says he’s known Clinton for three decades, dating back to before her time as first lady in the 1990s.

The first joint appearance of Biden and Clinton was originally scheduled for early July but was postponed following the killing of five police officers in Dallas. They will now head to Scranton, where hundreds of supporters wait for them at the Riverfront Sports Complex. “That is not Donald Trump’s life story”, he said.
