Clinton considering Warren, not Sanders, for running mate
Senator Elizabeth Warren made an appearance at Hillary Clinton’s Brooklyn Campaign Headquarters on Friday, giving a rallying speech to staffers, per a Democratic source. Elizabeth Warren, whose populist politics line up closely with Sanders, people familiar with the process said. She also posed for photos, according to social media posts from Clinton campaign aides.
Mrs. Clinton so far has been mum about her vice presidential pick, but she’s heaped praise on Ms. Warren. “I look forward to working with her on behalf of not only the campaign and her very effective critique of Trump, but also on the issues that she and I both care about”. “I’m ready to jump in this fight and make sure that Hillary Clinton is the next president of the United States and be sure that Donald Trump gets nowhere near the White House”. Bernie Sanders. Spontaneous chants of support for Sanders broke out several times.
The Boston Globe reported that Warren specifically discussed protecting ObamaCare and the Dodd-Frank financial reform law during her stop. She heartily endorsed the presumptive Democratic nominee the day after she officially clinched the nomination, and met with Clinton two days later at the former secretary of state’s Washington home. Sanders, a self-described Democratic socialist, has not yet dropped out.
Warren’s name has surfaced as a potential running mate for Clinton.
Last week during an exclusive interview with ABC News’ David Muir, Clinton praised Warren and did not rule out the prospect of having her on the ticket.
