Clinton Continues Push for Gun Control After San Bernardino Shooting
International Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers President James McCourt said in a letter to Clinton, reviewed by Reuters, that the union recognised her “strong support for fundamental labor standards” and “recognition of the significant contributions of our members to energy efficiency”.
“No matter what motivation these killers, these murderers had, we can say one thing for sure, they should not have been able to do this”, Clinton said at the start of the campaign event at Southern New Hampshire University in Hooksett on Thursday. “People like us who went to the movies or dropped our kids off at school or went to church. Here at home, we trust that Secretary Clinton will always do what’s best for America’s working families”.
Clinton says sensible gun safety measures should include expanded background checks, regulating private gun sales and passing a hotly debated bill in Congress that would make it illegal for anyone on a federal no-fly terrorist watch list to buy a gun. She returned to a core campaign theme, calling for equal pay, paid leave, and workplace opportunity for women. Seeing how Republicans have balked at even the most commonsense of reforms under Obama’s tenure, however, I’m led to believe that just because Clinton isn’t bandying about extolling the virtues of democratic socialism, Republicans wouldn’t be any less averse to her ideas.
Labor Secretary Tom Perez endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in a statement on Thursday, according to multiple reports.
Perez and Clinton aren’t in complete agreement of key labor issues.
She highlighted a program in the Reno, Nev., area, where millions of dollars are being saved because homeless people are picked up from the streets, and placed in a residential environment where they have to work.
She said the nation needs to be vigilant and cooperative, “collecting and analyzing information”, and urged the government to “redouble our efforts to dismantle the global structure of terrorism”.
Clinton delivered her remarks before hundreds of enthusiastic supporters crowded into a gymnasium who waved signs in English and Spanish.
“Finally, the “I just got up” email shows that, smack dab in the middle of the Benghazi crisis, Hillary Clinton fell behind and may have not been fully briefed as she began an intense round of phone calls to foreign leaders”.
In the wake of the video’s release, activists have been demonstrating in Chicago and asking the city’s officials to take more action on what many say is a culture of brutality in the local police department.
A veteran in the crowd had the last question.
At an event later Thursday, Clinton said the emerging picture surrounding the incident pointed to “terrorism”.
