Clinton continues push for stricter gun control
“In the coming months, I look forward to hitting the campaign trail to highlight the progress we’ve made as a nation, the unfinished business, and why Hillary Clinton is the fighter we need leading that effort”.
On Friday, Clinton is due to accept an endorsement from Labor Secretary Tom Perez, who plans to campaign for the Democratic presidential candidate.
Clinton, a former first lady in the 1990s and later a U.S. senator from NY and U.S. Secretary of State, did not specifically mention the Islamic State, which has claimed responsibility for November attacks in Paris that killed more than 100 people.
“The economy does better when we have a Democrat in the white house”, Clinton said.
The FBI says it’s officially investigating the shooting as an act of terrorism.
Republicans have seized on her spending, with the Republican National Committee accusing her of treating American tax dollars like “every day is Black Friday”. She also noted that the terrorists who flew planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, entered the country with valid visas then overstayed them.
“One way unions get to protect themselves is the more work that we have”, said Richie Schmidt, a member of Laborers’ International Union.
“If you are too unsafe to fly in America, you are too risky to buy a gun”, she said.
She added, “It does raise some serious questions about how we need to be protecting ourselves, how we need to be sure that we have the best possible intelligence that is shared between local law enforcement, state, and federal law enforcement, and that we do everything we can to prevent these kinds of attacks”.
Emanuel said the video was kept out of public view in order to uphold the integrity of the investigation into the shooting.
A new poll shows that 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has gained a 21-point lead over her opponent Bernie Sanders when it comes to net favorability. “The infrastructure is old, it is broken down”.
Clinton’s infrastructure proposal allocates $250 billion in direct investment by the federal government over the next five years.
Clinton also picked up a key endorsement, winning the backing of Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, in a charged rally at historic Faneuil Hall. Perez praised Clinton as an advocate for workers, telling supporters, “Her north star is the middle class”. “I don’t know that we would let that continue if we were dealing with a criminal network”. Marco Rubio of Florida, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson. Schmidt didn’t caucus for her in 2008, instead giving his support to candidate John Edwards.
In the October poll, Clinton and Sanders ran almost evenly among voters under age 55 (42% Clinton to 37% Sanders), liberal voters (43% Clinton to 37% Sanders) and independents who lean toward the Democratic Party (41% Clinton to 37% Sanders).
