Clinton County to get medical marijuana dispensary
Two of those dispensaries will be operated in Manhattan by Bloomfield Industries Inc. and Columbia Care New York LLC. A legal dispensary will also be located in Clinton County. Depending on which organizations are chosen, we could see a production facility in Washington County at the Agri-Business Park in Jackson, in Fulton County at the former Tryon School for Boys, in Warren County, or Glenville.
“Today’s announcement represents a major milestone in the implementation of New York State’s Medical Marijuana Program and keeps us on track to have the program up and running within 18 months of passage of the Compassionate Care Act”, New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker said through a statement.
State Health Department officials said the five companies awarded medical marijuana registrations passed a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation process.
The exact locations of the growing farms and dispensaries were not immediately known.
The state said it would designate up to five companies to be licensed statewide.
The New York State Department of Health announced its selection of five organizations that will be issued registrations to grow and dispense medical marijuana.
Eligible patients include those with cancer, HIV/AIDS, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, damage to the nervous tissue of the spinal cord with intractable spasticity, epilepsy, inflammatory bowel disease, neuropathies and Huntington’s disease, wasting syndrome, severe or chronic pain, severe nausea, seizures, or severe or persistent muscle spasms.
Patients will be allowed to get prescriptions to obtain forms of the drug that are edible or vaporized, but not smoked.
