Clinton edges Sanders for Nevada win
The announcement of Hillary Clinton’s projected victory in the close race comes with 72 percent of the vote counted and Clinton holding a close but steady lead against democratic rival Bernie Sanders.
The surveys were conducted for The Associated Press and the television networks by Edison Research as Republican voters left their polling places at 35 randomly selected sites in SC and as Democratic voters arrived at 25 randomly selected caucus sites in Nevada.
Also, in Clark County, the largest in Nevada, Clinton won 55% to Sanders’ 45%. Vote counting was delayed in Nevada by heavy turnout. Sanders said, “I believe that when Democrats assemble in Philadelphia in July at their convention, we are going to see the results of one of the great political upsets in the history of the United States”.
As for his campaign’s standing among African-American voters, which will be crucial in Saturday’s SC primary, Sanders says his campaign has made progress but that the more these voters know about his record on issues important to them, the more he’ll continue to gain support.
A smiling Bernie Sanders put a positive spin on a narrow loss in Nevada on Saturday, declaring that the results of the caucuses showed that the campaign had momentum and had an “excellent chance” to win numerous 11 states holding primary contests on Super Tuesday.
“To everyone who turned out in every corner of Nevada with determination and heart: This is your win”.
“In South Carolina I met kids trying to learn in crumbling classrooms, Clinton said to help drive her points home”. UnlessClinton is jailed or dies of a coughing fit, Sanders will not win the nomination.
And the report said, “For about six months, it seemed Sanders did not even know Nevada was on the map”.
Bernie Sanders conceded the race in Nevada in a phone call with Clinton.
“Senator Sanders was a nice January-February blip on the radar screen, but her march to the nomination should be well on its way after she wins here, especially given the SC numbers”, Billy Vassiliadis, a Democratic consultant in Las Vegas who is backing Clinton, said before the vote.
According to the entrance poll in Nevada, Clinton won black voters 76 percent to 22 percent.
Hillary for prosecution, not president!
Entrance polls of voters found that a third said the economy was their major concern, while a quarter cited income inequality – the centerpiece of the Sanders’ campaign.
” Americans are right to be angry”. Clinton was also aided by some of the party’s biggest special interest groups such as unions that work inside Las Vegas casinos. About 10 minutes later, Clinton came in to do the same.
