Clinton Foundation donors got face time with her at State
She’s fired back – pointing out examples of those critics exaggerating, over-reaching and telling half-truths. “We’re not responding to the outside criticism”, she said. She testified: “There was nothing marked classified in my emails”.
An analysis of newly released State Department records shows that a majority of the non-governmental meetings Hillary Clinton held as US secretary of State were with donors to her family’s tax-free foundation. Saban met privately with Clinton at least once in September 2009 and also hosted her twice at events put on by his think tank in June 2012 and again in November 2012. She later apologised, saying: “I take responsibility”. I asked and she said she doesn’t want to commit to anything for thurs or Friday until she knows how she will feel. She was forwarded messages that had no classification warning atop them, marked only in the body of the text by the letter – (C) – in parentheses: “There’s not evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that she knew she was receiving classified information”. “Asking to see her [.] Good friend of ours”, he added.
ATLANTA (AP) – Former President Bill Clinton says he’s proud of people who have donated to the Clinton Foundation and the work the organization has done, as he waded into a dispute that Republicans are hoping will damage his wife’s presidential campaign.
The 725 pages of emails, which were obtained by conservative watchdog Judicial Watch as part of a freedom of information request and released on August 22, are adding to the concerns that Clinton improperly used her official position to favor donors-a claim her campaign has denied.
The material was included in nearly 15,000 emails that the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported this week had been recovered from files that Clinton deleted.
The State Department has already culled through some 30,068 of Clinton emails from her 2009-2013 tenure as US Secretary of State and released majority, amounting to some 55,000 pages.
An investigation by the AP on August 23 showed that more than half of the people outside the government who met with Clinton while she was secretary of state had donated money-either personally or through companies or groups-to the Clinton Foundation. She described the story as “all smoke, no fire”.
A blowout is bad news for the corporate media, so some are going to try to prop up what looks like a dying Trump campaign by giving Hillary Clinton some bad media coverage. They heaped scorn on the chief example cited by the AP of a donor Clinton met: Muhammad Yunus, who happens to be the Nobel Prize-winning father of microfinance, and whom she’s known for decades.
“The most important thing to the president and to Chelsea is that the work continues but under different umbrellas away from the foundation, obviously, because we will not be able to accept corporate donations or worldwide money as we have to support our programs”, Shalala continued. The Lebanon ambassador says he doesn’t recall anyone ever talking to him about the donor, let alone actually speaking to him. One of the soccer players had trouble obtaining a visa because of a “criminal charge”. Band answers: “Then don’t”.
“It is outrageous to misrepresent Secretary Clinton’s basis for meeting with these individuals”, spokesman Brian Fallon said.
