Clinton Foundation president hospitalized after stroke
Donna Shalala, a cabinet secretary under former US President Bill Clinton and the head of his family’s charitable foundation, has suffered a stoke. Mr. Clinton visited the foundation chief after she underwent surgery and found her alert and able to communicate, according to a person briefed on the discussion.

“Fortunately, she was with colleagues at the time and taken to the hospital for treatment”, the Clintons said.
UM’s President Julio Frenk, who took over for Shalala’s position in September, issued a statement wishing her a full recovery.
Shalala’s history with the Clintons dates back years. “Initial reports [on her health] are very encouraging”. She also was chancellor at the University of Wisconsin and president of Hunter College in New York.
Earlier this year, she joined the Clinton Foundation, becoming the leader of the nonprofit organization, according to CNN.
Social media was filled with well-wishers expressing support for Shalala on Wednesday.
