Clinton laughs at audience member’s desire to ‘strangle’ Fiorina
Rather than denounce her supporter’s violent statement against Ms. Fiorina, Clinton instead laughed in amusement, as did the entire audience, before she joked that she “wouldn’t mess” with the man.
“I know that doesn’t sound very nice”, he said. The Democrat’s response to the man drew rebukes from the team behind Fiorina-the only major female candidate in her party’s field-and the Republican National Committee.
At Tuesday’s town hall-style event in New Hampshire, Mrs Clinton laughed when a man in the crowd spoke of wanting to throttle Carly Fiorina.
He said, “Every time I see [Carly Fiorina] on TV, I want to reach through and strangle her”.
Now that Hillary Clinton is ahead of Bernie Sanders by a mile, and seems to once again have a handle on general election match-ups with Republicans, this is no time to get comfortable.
“She laid off over 40,000 people, and she says she’s a great CEO”, he said.
And it’s a cardinal virtue of modern feminism that it’s not about what you say, it’s how the words you say make another person feel – and I definitely feel triggered. That creates an opening for Fiorina, who has said during debates and on the campaign trail that she is Clinton’s “worst nightmare”.
Then she laughed a few more.
“It’s clear women just can’t count on Hillary Clinton to stand up for them”.
The Fiorina campaign indirectly responded to the exchange by knocking the mainstream media, pointing to a tweet from spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores. “Jokes about committing acts of violence against women are always in poor taste and should be condemned every time”.
When someone made a comment at one of Donald Trump’s rallies about President Obama being a Muslim, Trump was blasted in the media and by his fellow candidates of both parties.
