Clinton pitches her foreign policy to American Legion
FBI Director James Comey said that while Clinton and her aides had been “extremely careless”, there was no evidence they intentionally mishandled classified information.
Trump, she said, agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin when he criticized that notion as insulting to the rest of the world. “The question is how we lead”.
Trump, she said, understands little about how American alliances operate or the principles of US engagement overseas. “For Americans who are concerned about national security and the treatment of our veterans, Donald Trump is our only choice for President”.
She will talk about her experience on the Senate Armed Services Committee and as secretary of state.
Clinton says Trump would undermine America’s greatness, and she would maintain it.
In contrast, Clinton will “make the case” for American exceptionalism, an idea that the USA, as an “exceptional” world citizen, has a moral obligation to advance democracy in the world rather than imposing it against another country’s will. Clinton has long promoted pro-democracy projects in countries interested in changing their government and in her speech will “call for maintaining America’s military and diplomatic leadership in the world”, the official said.
Brian Katulis, a national-security analyst at the liberal Center for American Progress think tank in Washington, said Clinton’s remarks were in line with “a bipartisan consensus about how we can best keep America safe and secure”.
But to Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, Clinton’s work as secretary of state doesn’t back her pledge. Bernie Sanders of Vermont scored points by reminding liberal voters that he had opposed the Iraq intervention while Clinton supported it as senator.
Emphasizing GOP support, Clinton’s campaign rolled out another Republican endorsement Wednesday.
“I hope you will join the growing number of Americans – Democrats, Republicans and independents – who are supporting our vision for the kind of future we want for our country”, Clinton said.
The revelation came Friday as the FBI, in a rare step, published scores of pages summarizing interviews with Clinton and her top aides from the recently closed criminal investigation into her use of a private email server in the basement of her Chappaqua, New York, home. She also advocated the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal she has since disavowed as a means to reinforcing USA support among Asian nations that felt squeezed by Chinese trade demands.
“Our adversaries must never hear flippancy or ignorance in America’s voice”. In a statement, Clad says that “giving an incoherent amateur the keys to the White House this November will doom us to second or third-class status”.
Trump’s campaign responded to the speech by saying that Clinton has proven that she is “fundamentally unequipped to further the national security interests of the United States and stand up for our veterans”.
“Trump has boasted for months that he is going to get Mexico to pay for his ridiculous wall but when he came face to face with the Mexican President he got out maneuvered and then tried to cover it up on worldwide TV”. At the same time, favorable views of her are at a record low, the worst measured during Clinton’s quarter-century in national public life.
