Clinton puts many Trump backers in ‘basket of deplorables’

Trump criticized US policy in Iraq from the days of Republican President George W. Bush, who ordered the American-led invasion in 2003 in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, al Qaeda attacks on the United States. “I think this will be the last election that the Republicans have a chance of winning because you’re going to have people flowing across the border, you’re going to have illegal immigrants coming in and they’re going to be legalised and they’re going to be able to vote and once that all happens you can forget it”, he said.
Half of Donald Trump’s supporters fall into a “basket of deplorables”, according to Hillary Clinton.
“Unfortunately, there are people like that, and he has lifted them up”.
Clinton’s campaign is standing by her “deplorables” statement, drawing attention to a tweet from a Politico reporter showing she has used the word before to describe Trump supporters.
“He tweets and retweets their offensive hateful mean-spirited rhetoric”, Clinton said. Others see Clinton’s statement as more reminiscent of Barack Obama’s 2008 statement where he said certain Americans “cling to guns or religion”.
Almost 50 percent of Trump supporters surveyed said that they viewed blacks as more violent than whites, and 40 percent said that they considered them lazier.
In her Friday evening remarks, Clinton said they should “empathize” with the other half of Trump’s supporters.
The latest RealClearPolitics national average showed Clinton clinging to a 2.7 percentage-point lead over Trump, much smaller than the almost 8 percentage-point lead she enjoyed shortly after the Democratic National Convention in late July.
She added that those people were deserving of understanding and empathy.
Nick Merrill, Clinton’s campaign spokesman, wrote on Twitter that she was referring to the alt-right supporters.
Hillary Clinton’s campaign steamrolled Matt Lauer in a fundraising email sent out the day after he moderated NBC’s Commander-in-Chief forum. Clinton’s campaign manager went on to attack Trump this morning on “GMA”, arguing that Trump doesn’t have a strategy to combat ISIS.
Clinton made her remarks at a fundraiser in front of the press.
A Donald Trump supporter upset with the vandals who’ve been stealing his campaign signs has rigged up a shocking surprise for future thieves.
On Saturday, Clinton’s staff said she attended another fundraiser at the Armonk, New York, home of attorney David Boies.
“We will discard the failed policies and division of the past, and embrace true American change to rebuild our economy, rebuild our inner cities, and rebuild our country”, Trump said. At this point, we should understand that we just can’t sit around and wait for fact checkers in the media to keep Trump honest.
