Clinton raises $154 million in September
Trump said he preferred to “let her try and lose weight”.
Last night, Mr Trump fired off a string of angry tweets, asking whether Clinton had pulled strings to get Ms Machado US citizenship.
In an attempt to discredit Machado, Trump’s allies have also pointed to news reports of a controversial incident in 1998 in Venezuela, in which Machado was suspected of having driven a getaway auto for her then-boyfriend after he shot someone. But for the moment, Machado is masterfully executing a much more vital role: forcing Trump to showcase why USA Today’s editorial board and many others believe he is “unfit for the presidency”.
“It’s a really bad dream for me”.
On Tuesday, Trump defended his treatment of Machado.
Trump ignored questions from reporters about whether he regretted the tweets as he toured the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan. “The absolute worst. She was impossible”. (Trump called her “Miss Piggy” and the “worst Miss Universe victor ever” during an appearance on Fox & Friends on September 27.) Machado has since appeared in an ad for Clinton, which ignited Trump’s most recent Twitter rant. Trump appears to have been referring to racy footage from a Spanish-language reality television show called La Granja, on which she appeared in 2005. “We want her to be feminine and soft, so when she walks down and hands over that crown, she is going to look her best”. “She was impossible. She was the victor and she gained a massive amount of weight and it was a problem”. Khan spoke at the Democratic National Convention, holding up a copy of the U.S. Constitution while accusing Trump of smearing the character of Muslims.
In the next, Clinton borrowed one of Trump’s favourite words.
Gingrich also brought up allegations about her past and sarcastically called her “a sympathetic, honest girl scout of extraordinary decency and great nobility”. Now, Hillary Clinton, 68, has also taken to Twitter to slam Trump the same day, using no less than eight tweets to speak her mind on the matter.
Unlike Trump, who often tweets himself, many of those sent out over Clinton’s official campaign account are composed by aides.
“O$3 ne of the worst things he said was about a woman in a beauty contest”, explained Clinton. He also called her “Miss Housekeeping”, in reference to her Latina heritage. According to Machado, Trump’s insults negatively impacted her self-esteem and contributed to an eating disorder she struggled with for several years.
“I wouldn’t eat, and would still see myself as fat, because a powerful man had said so”, Machado said.
Earlier Tuesday, Trump refused to back down from his criticism of Machado, telling “Fox and Friends” in an interview that she had “gained a massive amount of weight and it was a real problem”.
She weighed less than I did, during the pageant, after the pageant. “So I don’t think he gets credit for restraint, and restraint is a virtue, in fact is a presidential virtue”.
