Clinton’s Doctor Says 2016 Candidate In ‘Excellent’ Health
Dozens of emails on the private email account that Hillary Clinton used when secretary of state were recently classified by the government, the State Department said on Friday, giving Republican critics more ammunition against the Democratic presidential hopeful.
In a speech at Florida worldwide University in Miami, long the home city of anti-Castro sanction supporters, Clinton called for an end to the “failed policies” of embargo.
In addition to the taxes, Clinton’s campaign will post the itemized income for each speech Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton gave in 2013.
With this release, the campaign says 38 years of Clinton tax returns have been available to the press over the course of her career, dating back to 1977.
Clinton said in a statement that her family’s effective federal tax rate in each of the last two years was above 35 percent.
Clinton said her feelings on the embargo have evolved since the 1990s, when former President Bill Clinton signed the Helms-Burton Act, which further strengthened the Cuban embargo by putting it into federal law.
Also this afternoon, the campaign will release itemized details about the money the Clintons made from consulting since Hillary Clinton left the State Department.
“She is in excellent physical condition and fit to serve as President of the United States“, Bardack’s letter concludes.
She has vowed, if elected, to revive a push in Congress to institute the so-called Buffett rule, named for billionaire investor Warren Buffett, which would impose a minimum tax rate of 30 percent on anyone making more than $1 million a year.
The couple paid almost $44 million in federal taxes and donated almost $15 million to charity.
Hillary Clinton took the opportunity to slam two Republican presidential candidates’ tax plans for being too weighted in favor of the rich. “For example, [former Florida Gov.] Jeb Bush supports eliminating or dramatically lowering capital gains taxes for wealthy investors with no incentives for long-term holding”, she said. She suffered an elbow fracture in 2009 and had deep vein thrombosis in 1998.
The disclosures also include a letter from Hillary’s physician, noting that the 67 year-old candidate is in robust health, that her father and mother lived into their 80s and 90s, respectively, and that she takes the popular drug Coumadin to treat blood clots.
She questioned who the original sources of the story were – some have suggested that Republican lawmakers were involved – and said “if nothing else, the Times could have allowed the campaign more time to understand the allegation being engaged”.
Clinton sustained the concussion in December 2012 after fainting, which Bardack attributed to stomach virus and dehydration.
Clinton’s standard laboratory test results were normal, and her cancer screening evaluations were all negative, Bardack said.
Bardack said testing the following year showed “complete resolution” of the concussion’s effects, including double vision, which Clinton wore glasses with specialized lenses to address. We learned this week that the State Department isn’t just struggling to make Clinton’s e-mails public, it’s also struggling to get a hold of some e-mails that her top aides sent during her tenure as secretary of state.
There was no mention of Clinton’s height or weight, but it did say Clinton gets routine mammograms and breast ultrasounds, as well colonoscopies and gynecological exams.
