Clinton’s strong debate is general election warning for GOP
However, the prevalent theme among the candidates, who also included former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee, was one of comity.
There were several memorable exchanges.
Clinton told WCCO-TV on the day after the first Democratic presidential debate that she was only half joking when she listed Republicans among the enemies she has made in politics that she’s most proud of. “I just think he needs to decide what’s best for him and his family”.
The partisan audience loved it, and so did Clinton.
But Mrs Clinton went on the offensive and said that “we are not Denmark, we are the United States of America”. Enough of the e-mails. Everything was like, ‘This one said that, how do you respond Mr. Trump?’
The two talked about a few of the issues that were brought up during the debate, including Sanders’ comments on the Hillary Clinton private email server scandal.
“No, not at all”, Clinton said.
“If you’re a Hillary supporter and you were anxious for whatever reason, you should feel very good about yourself”, said Rodell Mollineau, a Democratic strategist who attended the debate in Las Vegas. “Even a majority of gun owners do”.
For Mr Biden, 72, who continues to ponder a bid for the presidency, the evening served as a reminder of how tenacious Mrs Clinton can be as a candidate, steeled by scores of debates in her 2008 presidential run and four years as secretary of state. And not because Hillary Rodham Clinton suffered grievous wounds or damaged her standing; she didn’t.
When asked what song he would sing in a karaoke bar, Sanders said he would choose “Stayin’ Alive” from “Saturday Night Fever”. “So he’s got to decide, ‘Am I going to enter the race?” You honeymooned in the Soviet Union. “So if you would finish your answer, we’ll move on”. I guess we’ll have to see. “Not just a handful of billionaires”. I am a great fan of Sen. While she behaved like the front-runner – confident, competent, comfortable – Sanders was connecting with the audience.
“We are not Denmark”.
But there were three other Democratic candidates on the stage.
Sanders described it as “the worst foreign policy blunder in the history of this country”.
Congratulations to The Associated Press for noticing that the discussion of college costs in Tuesday’s Democratic debate neglected a significant component: the cost of the proposed solutions.
“I’m a progressive, but…”: In response to Cooper’s inquiry as to whether or not Clinton is a progressive, Clinton, “I’m a progressive, but I’m a progressive who likes to get things done”.
Moderated by CNN news anchors Anderson Cooper, Dana Bash and Juan Carlos Lopez, Tuesday’s debate attracted 4.8 million viewers in the 25- to 54-year-old demographic prized by advertisers.
