Clinton Says She’s Unsure What Sanders Means by ‘Wall Street’
Bernie Sanders responds to Hillary Clinton criticism that he is not experienced enough in diplomacy to be president.
Clinton earned about $600,000 for the speeches, and has said that she will “look into” releasing their transcripts.
Sanders has disavowed the Berniebros. “We don’t want that crap”.
“I don’t think voters are interested in the transcripts of her speeches”, top Clinton adviser Joel Benenson told reporters Friday.
The former president also raised the voter file data breach from a year ago, which resulted in the firing of a Sanders staffer.
KEITH: And that, Clinton says, has made her more careful.
Clinton said Friday on MSNBC that she doesn’t regret giving the speeches because they offered her a way to communicate about what she was seeing around the world. “In private, they sent an email out complaining, blaming the Democratic party for leaving the keys in the auto…’All I did was drive it out'”.
The key for Clinton to win – or, truthfully, fight to a draw – in this dispute over her alleged closeness to Wall Street is to preserve the idea that while she took the financiers’ money, she also told them hard truths about their business and why it needs to change.
“Let anybody who’s ever given a speech to any private group under any circumstances release them”.
But – just hours before the New Hampshire primary – the self-described democratic socialist garnered some of the loudest applause of the afternoon by reminding voters of rival Hillary Clinton’s vote to authorize the war in Iraq.
HILLARY CLINTON: When you’re running for political office – particularly when you’re running for president – there is still a huge double standard. I didn’t get a chance to actually vote against it because Bill was in the hospital having a heart procedure, but I put a statement out. Dean said. “I don’t hear anybody asking Bernie Sanders for his transcripts for some speech he made with a labor union”.
BERNIE SANDERS: She won the Democratic primary back in 2008.
KEITH: Later in the show, host Larry David asked Sanders how things are going up in New Hampshire. More than 80 percent of those who think honesty is the quality that matters the most in a candidate backed Sanders in Iowa, according to entrance polls. “And I resent deeply any effort by the Sanders campaign to so imply” otherwise.
Clinton said Sunday that Weaver, who received a standing ovation for her work on the water crisis, was a “servant leader”.
Republican front-runner Donald Trump traded accusations of sexism with Clinton, prompting a reexamination of the support Clinton won from feminists in the ’90s when she defended her husband against accusations that threatened to derail his presidency. Besides, she said, she urged Wall Street reforms before the Great Recession.
