Clinton Says She ‘Short-Circuited’ Answering Email Questions
Hillary Clinton speaks at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. “I can speak about what she said to the Federal Bureau of Investigation”.
“Maybe, just maybe, when I’m running for a job there’s a real benefit for the people on the other side to try to stir up as much as possible”, she said.
“And as the FBI said, everything that I’ve said publicly has been consistent and truthful with what I’ve told [the FBI]”, Clinton said in an interview with Brandon Rittiman of KUSA News.
Almost a full week after her Wallace interview where she inaccurately stated that FBI Director James Comey ruled her statements about her personal email server “truthful”, tongues were still wagging at the Association of Blacks and Hispanic Journalists Conference.
Clinton’s appearance on “Fox News Sunday” was her first time on the program in almost five years and only her fourth time appearing on Fox News Channel since announcing her presidential candidacy in 2015. On Fox News Sunday, Clinton had been asked about her public statements that “there is no classified materials” among the emails she sent and received using a personal email account and server while she was secretary of State.
“As the Federal Bureau of Investigation said, everything that I’ve said publicly has been consistent and truthful with what I’ve told them”, Clinton said in an interview with KUSA’s Brandon Rittiman on Wednesday. But, she also said that when she has been elected to office and taken on big tasks, she earns strong public support.
He concluded, “He [Comey] did say that some of the emails contained information that was classified at the time, and Hillary Clinton had repeatedly told the public that none of the emails contained information that was classified in any way”. There are too many people taking the podium for us to include them all, so we’re only evaluating the most memorable.
When Gowdy asked if it was true when “Clinton said there was nothing marked classified on her emails either sent or received”, Comey responded: “That’s not true”.
In addition, Comey noted the existence of several email chains concerning matters classified as Top Secret or Special Access Program.
Clinton said Friday that the three emails cited by Comey “did not have the appropriate markings” and as a result, “it was therefore reasonable to conclude that anyone, including myself, would not have suspected that they were classified”. His campaign earlier said he meant that he saw television coverage of the hostages, not the cash, leaving an airplane.
Overall, he described her handling of “very sensitive, highly classified information” as “extremely careless”.
