Clinton Seizes On Her Own Sick Days To Promote Paid Sick Leave
The project, which is based on a weekly tracking poll of more than 15,000 Americans, shows that the 2016 presidential race could end in a photo finish on November 8, with the major-party candidates running almost even in the Electoral College, the body that ultimately selects the president.
The same poll showed Clinton with a 5-point lead over Trump, but her lead in a late August Quinnipiac Poll was 10 points.
For Hillary Clinton, it’s the first day back.
She then tried to shift attention, by talking about the alleged Russian interference in this year’s elections and criticized Trump’s “alarming closeness with the Kremlin over the course of this campaign”.
“If Trump is being less outrageous and less titillating, it means that Hillary Clinton has a better chance to get her own message through and have the election litigated on her own terms”.
MCEVERS: In terms of Clinton’s pitch to voters, she’s been very focused on policy proposals, but she has promised to speak in more personal terms going forward to help voters understand where her views come from. Trump has an advantage with whites, men, avid churchgoers, and people who are nearing retirement age.
She said she wants to give Americans “something to vote for, not just against”. Romney was up 19 points and ending up winning by about 16.
Respondents took the survey after video surfaced of Clinton almost collapsing at a September 11 memorial in NY on Sunday. Her campaign later disclosed she had been diagnosed with pneumonia two days earlier.
Trump, after releasing his health information, spent Thursday laying out plans to lower taxes by $4.4 trillion over a decade and cut regulations, including some of those now meant to protect the food Americans eat and the air they breathe. Trump released a new letter from his doctor Thursday detailing his blood pressure, cholesterol and medications, one day after Clinton made public a letter from her physician with similar information.
On Thursday, Donald Trump released a letter from his doctor saying he is in “excellent physical health”.
“The candidate who has coattails is the candidate who is going to be able to pull in voters who might not otherwise have voted – and that’s what Obama was able to do in 2008 and 2012, especially among younger voters, African-American voters and minority voters”, Smith said.
“I talked with some old friends and spent time with our very sweet dogs”. Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson has 8 per cent, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein trails with 2 per cent. Both polls had a credibility interval, a measure of accuracy, of 3 percentage points.
The polls come after a bad week for the Clinton campaign. The differences are partly due to the fact that some polls, like Reuters/Ipsos, try to include only likely voters, while others include all registered voters.
One of the most striking takeaways from the poll findings this week is that even with all of Trump’s controversies and polarizing comments, Clinton is still struggling to stitch together key parts of the Obama coalition.
