Clinton Takes on Gun Lobby in Ames

Fulton lauded President Obama’s recent steps to address the gun epidemic, and she said that she believes Clinton can carry on-and further-that legacy.

The endorsement also comes days after Clinton won the endorsement of former Rep. Gabby Giffords and retired astronaut Mark Kelly, as well as Sybrina Fulton, the late mother of Trayvon Martin.

Though Bill Clinton is a two-term president, the Clinton endorsement that means the most to Hillary’s campaign may just be Chelsea’s.

I agree with the President: We should only support leaders that fight for common-sense gun reforms.

In an op-ed for CNN, Sybrina Fulton pledged her allegiance to the democratic frontrunner and praised Clinton’s gun control policies.

“I think the people of Vermont and I have understood for many years that what guns are about in Vermont are not what guns are about in Chicago, Los Angeles or NY, where they’re used not for hunting or target practice but to kill people”, Sanders told NPR last year. “Nobody knows better than us that talk is cheap”, the couple says in their endorsement of Clinton. Since Chelsea Clinton is not a political candidate, her favorability isn’t gauged as often as her mother’s. The group, according to attendees, discussed Clinton’s criminal justice and gun control plans and the mothers presented the candidate with ideas on how to tackle the issue of police brutality.

“The stakes are too high, the costs are too dear, and I am not and will not be afraid to keep fighting for common sense reforms and along with you, achieve those on behalf of all who have been lost because of this senseless gun violence in this country”, she said in June.

When faced with votes on the Brady Bill in the House, “Bernie Sanders actually voted against it”, Gross said.

“When it really mattered, Senator Sanders voted with the gun lobbies and I voted against the gun lobby”, Clinton said recently.

They argue in their statement that the gun lobby “has had a stranglehold on Washington” for years but that Clinton could break through that gridlock.

“With so many of our children’s lives on the line or taken, we simply can’t afford to elect a Republican who refuses to even acknowledge the problem of senseless gun violence”. We owe that to all America’s children.
