Clinton, Trump use whatever they’ve got in the final push
There has been a small uptick in poll numbers for Clinton (48-45 in the latest ABC News/WashPost tracking poll) after the Trump campaign put her on the back foot on the basis of leaks that the Federal Bureau of Investigation may indict her corruption, reports that turned out to be false or premature. With early voting nearly complete, her campaign is focusing battlegrounds like Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Hampshire in the final days of the race.
Polls conducted by the Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project show a narrowing margin between Hillary Clinton and Republican rival Donald Trump. At this point in 2012, Obama led by about 30 points.
In Florida “Clinton leads by 8 points among early voters”, according to Reuters’ Maurice Tamman.
“If they resist this trend, I don’t think they’ll win the support of their people, and their country’s economic and social progress will also be affected”, Xie said in response to a question about Trump.
For Clinton supporters, it has been a quick shift from confidence to anxiety. Bill Clinton was headed to Colorado and Vice President Joe Biden was due in Wisconsin, both states Clinton was believed to have locked up weeks ago. Polling averages last week showed Clinton with a lead of between 4 and 7 points.
Hillary Clinton sped across battleground states Friday trying to seal a historic presidential victory powered by minorities and women, while Donald Trump traveled to small-town America to fire up the white, working-class voters he insists will bring the crown to his outsider campaign. “And you say the other guy is claiming the election is rigged”. “There are times where history is. moveable”.
That would give her 239 electoral votes, only 31 short of the 270 necessary to win the White House. She’s been pounding Trump for his record on race, accusing him of tacitly encouraging support from white supremacists.
Global equity prices drifted lower on Thursday as worries about the election weighed on investor sentiment. These surrogates will crisscross the battleground states to make a last minute push for Clinton, more than Trump can do in the remaining few days. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz appeared at a campaign rally with vice presidential candidate Mike Pence Thursday in Portage, Mich. on the state’s west side – an area where Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich performed well in the GOP primary. In the campaign’s final stretch, the loudest messenger has been Obama himself, mentioning the millions of jobs created since he took office in virtually every one of his campaign speeches for Clinton.
The good news for Clinton is that about 60 percent of likely Hispanic voters are supporting her, similar to the numbers Obama enjoyed in 2012.
Clinton had used unauthorized server at her residence in Chappaqua, New York, instead of the secure State Department system.
“She is likely to be under investigation for many, many years. Our country, we have to get back to work, right”.
“If my opponent were to win, we’d have a president who’s only ever been in it for himself”, she later added.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. and his sister, Ivanka Trump, made campaign appearances in Detroit and the suburbs.
“We must win on November 8 and we must come together as Americans. Third of all, he was elderly, and we gotta respect our elders, and fourth of all, don’t boo, vote”.
“He has spent this campaign offering a dog whistle to his most hateful supporters”, she said.
“OK I will (redacted) just fedex secure cell phone from dc”.
Not all Clinton supporters were anxious about her recent slip in the polls.
