Clinton urges ‘intensification’ of IS fight
The Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL, is effectively using online platforms to become “the most effective recruiter in the world”, Clinton said.
In the days since the shooting, Clinton has called for stricter gun laws and for Congress to pass a law banning those on the no-fly list from buy weapons. Manufacturers in the United States in raw materials and industries like steel say that currency manipulation in China puts their businesses at a disadvantage in global markets, and Clinton has said before the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal falls short of addressing currency manipulation.
“They can not permit the recruitment and the actual direction of attacks or the celebration of violence by this sophisticated Internet user”, she said about the social networking sites. Republicans Jeb Bush, John Kasich and Marco Rubio appeared on different talk shows claiming that Obama isn’t doing quite enough to ensure protection for the people and the real fact is that he has no strategy in the war against ISIS.
Whether it’s attacking the CFPB, undermining new rules to rein in unscrupulous retirement advisers, or rolling back any part of the hard-fought progress we’ve made on financial reform, she and I agree: “President Obama and congressional Democrats should do everything they can to stop these efforts.”
“I’ve laid out very specific plans about the kind of investments that I think middle-class families particularly need, that we have to have, to, you know, grow our economy and I have been very specific about how I will pay for each of those, and that is part of the – you know, underlying principal of my presenting these”.
In the new poll, 74 percent said Clinton had the best chance of winning the general election next November, compared to 17 percent who said the same for Sanders.
She added, “We need to tackle excessive risk wherever it lurks, not just in the banks”.
Clinton began by linking last week’s massive terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California, to other Islamist attacks, and warned that politicians and others must take care not to blame all Muslims for such terrorism. Nobody is arguing with that. And let’s not forget, though, a week before we had an American assault on Planned Parenthood and some weeks before that we had an assault at a community college.
Clinton said using the term “radical Islam” will only promote further antagonism against Islam, and would “sound like we are declaring war against a religion”.
“There will be consequences for even small violations” of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Clinton said, “if we see any indication”. “If you are a Muslim, you must join us”. Talking at the Brookings Institution-hosted Saban Forum on the Israeli-American relationship, Hillary Clinton urged “government and the high-tech community to confront [ISIS] together”.
Earlier in her prepared remarks, she noted the growth of an Islamic State cell in the Sinai Peninsula, and the potential for support of the group in the Gaza Strip.
