Clippers win again without Griffin, beating Hawks 85-83
The latest injury could jeopardize Griffin’s ability to play in next month’s All-Star game if he is chosen as a reserve.
The group had dinner Saturday at Sotto Sotto in Toronto before Griffin and Testi got into a fight, with Griffin breaking his right hand. So when more details emerged from the incident and we found out that the person Griffin punched was a team equipment manager and not Stephenson, no one else was happier than he. Griffin hit Testi, who then left the restaurant and went outside.
According to the Orange County Register, the two had an argument inside the establishment, and once outside, Griffin hit the staff member multiple times.
Before Wednesday’s game in Atlanta, Rivers told reporters that Griffin and Testi would both eventually return to the team.
In a statement, the Clippers said the conduct “has no place in our organization and this incident does not represent who we are as a team”. “We are conducting a full investigation with assistance from the National Basketball Association”.
“A situation among friends escalated and I regret the way I handled myself toward someone I care about, ” Griffin said via Twitter. According to the statement, Griffin underwent surgery on his hand Tuesday morning.
Clippers coach Doc Rivers called the incident “frustrating” and a “distraction” for a team that has clawed its way back in the competitive Western Conference.
The road victory saw the Clippers improve to a 29-16 win-loss record for the season while IN fell to 23-22.
