Cloud ‘floating city’ sparks conspiracy debate
They pulled out smart phones and began to film the sight, fascinated and probably a little terrified at the same time.
A “floating city” has been seen in the skies above China, but experts say it is nothing but an optical illusion.
Conspiracy theorists are having a field day after footage of what appears to be a mysterious, ghostly city floating in the clouds above China was posted online. This temperature inversion is the opposite of what is normally the case; air is usually warmer close to the surface, and cooler higher up. “The apparition, which was witnessed by hundreds of shocked residents, only lasted a few minutes before completely disappearing”. When it does, this creates an atmospheric duct, which acts like a lens for radiation wavelengths and refracts light.
It is caused by light bending through various layers of temperature as it makes its way from the sun to the earth.
One of the most interesting theories claims that American agency NASA is planning to use “holographic image projection technology” to simulate the second coming of Christ or an alien invasion and gauge people’s reaction to it.
There were previous reports of a similar sighting in China in 2011. Serge Monast, a conspiracist from Quebecois, first predicted in the 1980s it would happen by 1983, 1996 and then 2000.
It appears, though, that the cloud formation that the people in China have seen is not at all evidence of a parallel universe. The footage has led to theories of government testing and parallel universes opening up, according to the Express. The research team proposed that parallel universes interact and influence nearby worlds by a subtle force of repulsion. In 2011, another floating city appeared above Huangshan City, as well.
