Although the possibility of snow is only predicted for Tuesday, the week will hit peak cold on Wednesday, according to the NWS.
Temps today drop into the mid 20s this afternoon on a gusty northwesterly wind. There is about 3-inches of snow accumulation expected.
After some slick driving conditions Saturday morning, most of the day will be dry but cloudy. North wind around 7 miles per hour.
Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for much of the area Sunday morning, with bursts of snow leading to 1-2 inches of accumulation in some places. That means just a high of 31 today, and a quick warm-up to 39 on Tuesday under cloudy skies. Light accumulations will be possible. The chance of snow is 80 percent. A chance of snow showers overnight.
Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers. The next system moves back in tonight bringing light rain showers after 3 AM. Cloudy, with a high near 22. High temperatures will be in the upper 30’s and lower 40’s in the morning before falling in to the lower 30’s and upper 20’s by sunset.
Friday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Monday itself is quiet, sunny, and cold with highs in the 30s.

FRIDAY: Partly cloudy skies and a few snow showers will be around, with a high temperature of 34 degrees. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. The Wednesday storm, however, will bring up to an inch of rain to Sacramento and about six inches of snow to elevations of 5,000 feet in the Sierra Nevada, she said. Cloudy with a high near 37.
