Club To ANNOUNCE Signing Of £29m Star, Medical To Hold Monday
Arsene Wenger thinks Arsenal will make “at least one” new signing this month, dropping a strong hint that a midfielder is his top priority.
The Gunners are being heavily linked with a move for Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny, with some reports suggesting a medical has already been passed, although he will still have to get a work permit.
Arsenal’s next league match is at Anfield against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in two weeks time.
The French boss, however, refused to answer questions about the transfer following his side’s narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle, preferring instead to focus other matters until Elneny is officially an Arsenal player.
“We have not signed anybody and we are not imminently in a position where we can say we have signed somebody”.
Asked if Mohamed Elneny is a target, he added: “Unfortunately we can not announce anything at the moment about [Mohamed Elneny] because nothing has been concluded”.
The Gunners now lead the table ahead of Leicester City, with title rivals Manchester City three points adrift in third and Manchester United a further six points behind in fifth spot.
“Flamini has played well and it was a hard game for the midfielders because they put a lot of pressure on us and we didn’t find our combinations”, Wenger said.
