Colbert interviews Eminem on Michigan public-access TV show
And there, regular viewers of Michigan Public Access Cable Television’s “Only in Monroe”… if there are any regular viewers… were greeted Wednesday afternoon by a special guest host, Stephen Colbert. And things got confusing when Slim realized Stephen didn’t actually know him (or much about hip-hop in general).
@ColbertLateShow: Stephen Colbert OBLITERATES Previous Record of Appearances on Michigan Public Access by Network Late Night Hosts. “Who are some of your biggest musical influences?”
He went on to ask Eminem, 42, several questions about his music, seemingly surprised that the rapper had a credible career.
“Speaking as an entertainer – and I’m in the entertainment industry – that’s such a cute face”, Colbert noted. “I’d imagine Motown, Nugent, Seger?”
Eminem took to his Facebook to share a photo from his interview with Colbert. They talk about the traffic on I-75, the cresting of the local river, Bob Seger (because why not). Natch. Impressed. Colbert asks, “Are you like sing-song rap like Bone Thugs-N-Harmony or you more like street like Will Smith?” Just skip to the 31-minute mark and you’ll see what we mean. Colbert won’t assume that post, which was held by the inimitable David Letterman for almost 22 years, until September 8. We’re legit so thankful for all the sarcasm in the meantime. “You are sadly mistaken”.
