Cold temperatures, snow to replace spring-like weather in midstate

Initially, a major New Jersey snowstorm was the subject of computer models, however the models have since backed off those predictions, bringing the storm system farther south and, thus, reducing New Jersey’s chances of receiving a major snowfall.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Additionally, as visibility will be about a half-mile at times, drivers are urged to take caution when on the roads.
School delays, or cancellations, are likely on Friday. Still, there are uncertainties as to “timing, as well as placement of heaviest snow banding”, the weather service said, so areas could see higher amounts.
Snow is expected to fall this evening, and could potentially mix with rain.
Modeling shows three possible scenarios.
The National Weather Service’s forecasts said there could be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch of snow accumulation in Durham, Orange and Johnston counties, but did not list any accumulation in Wake County.

Sunday night in the Omaha area, there is a chance of rain before 9 p.m., then a chance of snow after 10 p.m. with a low around 25. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Partly cloudy skies are expected tonight, with a low around 34. Wind chill values between -5 and 5.
Snow or no snow, Piotrowski says temps will be in the chilly 40s thanks to rain and a northeast wind.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 27. Northeast wind 7 to 9 miles per hour.
