Coldest weather yet this winter moving into ME for weekend
According to the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, Thursday’s high will be 32 degrees and Friday’s high will be 29 degrees.
NWS meteorologists said in a weather briefing that the coldest time period will be from late Saturday through Sunday morning.
It should warm up to the low 20s on Sunday, but it will be windy with a 40 percent chance of snow.
The coldest day ahead is looking to be Saturday. The combination of frigid temperatures and wind may produce unsafe wind chills.
Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 21 degrees and wind-chill values as low as -5 degrees.
The agency is advising residents to pack on layers and make use of gloves and hats to prevent the loss of body heat.
Ventura and Ojai were the hottest cities in the county with 91 degrees but a close second was Fillmore which reached 90 degrees, the weather service reported.
A reprieve from bone-chilling temperatures could come as early as next week. Winds could gust as high as 30 miles per hour.
Highs will be in the 70s through at least Tuesday, with overnight lows pushing into the low 50s, forecasters said.
