Coldplay and James Corden pay tribute to Prince
In the clip, Montell tells James he heard he was a fan of his hit song This Is How We Do It, before he appeared on the show to sing a full version of the track. On Monday, the archive unearthed vintage footage of a teenage Corden interviewing, of all people, Meat Loaf.
He said that as they wanted to honor Prince, he was going to call the missing band member and he invited James Corden on stage.
Air New Zealand, famous for its safety videos, has concocted another video in which it asks Corden to come on board and implement a whole new kind of karaoke.
Now, can we nominate Meat Loaf for a future Carpool Karaoke? “No matter what different situation, no matter what comes up against you, you do the best you can do, and you never give up”.
Frontman Chris Martin was a bundle of energy, shifting from guitar to piano while singing and dancing on a long catwalk that bridged three stages.
One of the earliest Carpools featured singer-actress Hudson, who sang Corden’s order to an Astro Burger drive thru attendant. Not so at Coldplay’s Sunday night show in Los Angeles.
That is, until Jordan walked off-camera and joined Corden in the studio to perform his favorite song – and perhaps the greatest gift of the 90s -This Is How We Do It. “I feel lucky every time I get in the auto with any of these people who I just really admire and respect”. The rock star responds by beating his head against the table.
The Late Late Show was on a two-week hiatus due to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio taking place, so the show’s staff had plenty of time to plan a special surprise for Corden’s birthday.
