Coldplay to headline Super Bowl halftime show
Wait, you say! The NFL would never go for metal no matter where the Super Bowl is taking place.
“We are so excited and honored and thrilled to be playing the halftime show”, band front man Chris Martin said in a video.
“It’s going to be wonderful and I hope we see you there”. It’s the greatest moment of our band’s life. “We are going to give it everything we have”.
Super Bowl 50 will be played on February 7 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Special mention as well to additional artists who would definitely fit right into the Superbowl Halftime Show stage: Eminem, Chris Brown, and Gwen Stefani (who performed with No Doubt as Shania Twain’s guest performers in 2003).
Coldplay played Hackney Church last night, the smallest venue they’ll be performing in before they embark on an extensive 2016 world stadium tour in support of new album, A Head Full Of Dreams.
What do you think of this year’s choice?
The Super Bowl is an annual celebration of Just Guy Things: homoerotic tight trousers, dude-on-dude grappling, sports, balls, brews, and chili.
Although Coldplay has yet to release an official statement regarding the circulating news that their album won’t be readily available on the giant free streaming service Spotify, rumors, however are claiming that the decision was based on their dislike of Spotify’s free tier.
This means that Spotify’s over 20 million paying customers will also be left out in the cold when “A Head Full of Dreams” arrives December 4th. Added to this list are appearances from Beyoncé, Noel Gallagher, Tove Lo, and even a vocal sample of U.S. president Barack Obama singing Amazing Grace. Coldplay held previous albums, 2014’s Ghost Stories and 2011’s Mylo Xyloto, back from streaming services for several months after release, although Ghost Stories did premiere as a pre-release stream on Apple’s iTunes in the days before Apple had its own streaming service.
