Colin Kaepernick can choose to be free agent after year
Kaepernick’s first start will come on the road where, as was the case in the preseason finale in San Diego, he is sure to be showered with boos because of his refusal to stand for the national anthem.
At a time when the league issued a bland statement about balancing the right to protest with respect for the flag, Kelly’s words were more forceful and attention-grabbing, including inside the 49ers’ locker room.
And while the anthem protest isn’t going away now that Kaepernick is the starting quarterback for the 49ers again, it’s negative effects on Kaepernick’s possible free agency (don’t be naive, no matter where you stand on Kaepernick’s protest, National Football League teams were not going to expose themselves to that level of outside scrutiny) can’t be glossed over.

McCoy’s decision to support police officers and invite them to a game stems more from his incident in the offseason when he was involved in a fight with off-duty police officers.
Injuries played a role, particularly last season. This is also a ideal letdown spot for a Bills team that has expended a lot of energy in getting back on track over the last three weeks.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick (7) looks on during the second quarter against the Dallas Cowboys at Levi’s Stadium.
“It’s really one of the only maneuvers we can do based on our depth”.
“He’s capable to be the backup”, Kelly said.
Gabbert completed just two passes all season that traveled at least 21 yards downfield and his 37.3 rating on deep throws was second worst among all quarterbacks, according to Sportradar.
“It’s something that I’m ready to step on that field, I’m ready to play”.
“I think I’ve always been confident”, he revealed.
Kelly gets bonus points for making the “banana in the tailpipe” reference, even if he butchered it a little bit.
Last year, Kaepernick passed for 1,615 yards and six touchdowns with five interceptions in nine games as the starter last season before losing his starting job to Blaine Gabbert. In the past 11 months, he’s had operations on his left non-throwing shoulder, left knee and right thumb. “To get the full Kap for what you need, the potential that he has, he needs to continue to just work on the physical aspect of things”.
Before Kaepernick could do that, he signed a restructured two-year contract Wednesday.
“We don’t have hardly any tape on him to know what his tendencies are, where he’s going with the ball, where he likes to run the ball and things like that, or how healthy or how athletic he is at this point”. Then again, there’s good people and there’s bad people. “We were happy to play against Gabbert instead of him”.
