Colin Kaepernick’s Hometown Hopeful San Francisco 49ers Coach Chip Kelly Will

Kaepernick was reportedly done with the franchise, but then the team hired former Philadelphia Eagles and University of OR head coach Chip Kelly.

Kelly was at the 49ers facility on Thursday but his introductory press conference won’t be held until next week, the team citing scheduling conflicts and Kelly’s quest to hire assistants.

Well the 49ers have made a decision on a head coach, and that man is Chip Kelly.

Sounds a lot like Jim Harbaugh, who is the most successful 49ers coach since the mid 1990’s, but also someone who clashed too often with York and especially Baalke, which is why he got fired, making a return to college football and doing quite well on his first season with MI, his alma mater.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, there was zero contact between the 49ers and Kaepernick during the team’s 11-day coaching search, which raises questions about Kaepernick’s future in San Francisco.

“As one of the most historic franchises in the National Football League, I realise the high standards and expectations that this position demands and I embrace the challenges ahead”, Kelly said. That’s because we play three more games than other teams. “It’s interesting that it’s come around and now Chip Kelly has the potential to coach Colin Kaepernick for the Red and Gold”.

The SF News reached out to San Francisco 49ers’ Vice President of Communications, Bob Lange, but no additional comment is available at this time.

Back in November, a few weeks after Kaepernick was benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert, a former San Jose Mercury News reporter noted that prices on Kaepernick gear had been slashed.

“Chip possesses all the qualities we were looking for in our next head coach”, Baalke said in a statement.

“Guess I might have to start running right now to get in shape”, Smith tweeted. “I think Kaepernick can pick it up quickly, and I think you’ll probably see a fairly efficient and effective Colin Kaepernick next year”. Loomis is confident the Saints will figure out whether they need to change Brees’ contract, which expires after next season and now counts about $30 million against the team’s salary cap.

That being said, there’s at least two reasons that it’s surprising the 49ers didn’t let Kaepernick know that Kelly was going to be hired.

“The 49ers fired Jim Tomsula after a 5-11 season in 2015”. Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez aren’t your ideal quarterbacks to run Kelly’s system.

After Kelly was sacked by Philadephia, former Eagles cornerback Brandon Boykin told the Pittsburgh Tribune: “You can’t trick players or pretend to be someone you’re not if the results aren’t there”.
