(Colo.)- Pujols, Trout Homers Lead Angels Past Rockies, 10
The Los Angeles Angels came out swinging the bats on Tuesday as they beat the Rockies.
The trumpets sounded more like sad trombones.
Albert Pujols and Mike Trout hit three-run homers, Chris Iannetta hit a two-run shot and Matt Joyce hit a solo homer as the Angels built a 10-0 lead and knocked out Bettis after 2 1/3 innings, the shortest start of his career.
This year’s home run derby will feature some of baseball’s youngest stars. “That’s something you can be proud of, to help the team win”.
The Rockies (35-48) have now lost eight of their last 10 games. Frazier reached the final previous year and will be competing in his home ballpark. “But they did damage”.
It was the roughest outing of the season for Bettis (4-4), who had become a bright spot in the Rockies’ rotation. Next batter was Chris Iannetta, who worked a walk. Put another way, the Angels struck out half as often (twice) as they homered (four) against Bettis. The loss was charged to Chad Bettis, who allowed 10 runs in just two and one-third innings pitched. Pujols said he is looking forward to the new format that was recently introduced.
Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols will be paired against Chicago Cubs rookie Kris Bryant in the opening round on Monday night in Cincinnati.
“Each batter gets five minutes per round, with the timer starting when the first pitch is thrown”.
Colorado gold glove third baseman Nolan Arenado wasn’t excited to see an off day on the schedule, but the budding superstar was probably in a pretty good mood nonetheless prior to the Rockies’ two-game series with the Los Angeles Angels that begins Tuesday at Coors Field. That was his fourth homer.
“It makes it tougher when you’re playing from behind in all aspects of the game, ” Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. “And they didn’t miss them”.
Miguel Tejada – who was with the Baltimore Orioles at the time – would end up taking home the trophy.

Heaney, 24, entered this season as the Angels’ top prospect.
The Rockies got on the scoreboard with a Drew Stubbs home run in the third inning, which cut the Angels lead to 10-1. Troy Tulowitzki added an RBI single in the sixth. This will make Trout’s fourth straight All-Star appearance. Pujols hit his A… Charlie Blackmon also went 3-for-4. “You want to be in the game”, he said.
The Angels, coming off a 12-6, sweep-clinching series finale against the Rangers on Sunday, have now scored 10 or more earned runs against a starting pitcher in back-to-back road games.
Cue the trombone. Womp-wah.
