Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre guarantees win vs Arizona

ABOUT ARIZONA (4-2, 1-2 Pac-12): The Wildcats’offensive machine was humming on all cylinders against Oregon State, outgainingthe visitors 645-249 behind 276 passing yards from Solomon and a 368-yardrushing performance.

This one looked scary early. But the Buffs replied with a 72-yard touchdown strike from Liufau to Fields moments later to keep it close. Arizona had a 44-yard pass completion on its second play of the game and would have had a touchdown on the next play if wide receiver Samajie Grant hadn’t dropped a pass in the end zone. Liufau finished the game 27-of-42 for 340 yards and the two touchdowns. He had run eight times for 168 yards and two touchdowns, with him out, Colorado would struggle. “It was the flawless play call, and Sefo made a great throw”.

Randall, a senior from Hollywood, Florida, entered the game near the end of the third quarter with the Wildcats trailing 24-17 and instantly brought momentum to Arizona’s side.

The Arizona defense allowed 255 total yards. Colorado scored a late touchdown to put a scare into the Wildcats, but it ended up being a 38-31 victory for Arizona.

Things settled down in the second quarter, though. They held on fourth down but Arizona downed the punt at the 6 and Colorado couldn’t get very far with just 38 seconds to work with.

ABOUT COLORADO (3-3, 0-2): With their losses toOregon and Arizona State, the Buffaloes have now dropped 13 straight Pac-12games since a late-2013 win over California. Phillip Lindsay gained 70 yards in the first half. What was nice to see was Trey Griffey making his first catch after coming back from injury, followed by Terrell Johnson with an eleven-yard rush, who also came back from injury this week.

The teams were tied at 17 following a first half that took an hour, 45 minutes even though two of the touchdown drives lasted 32 and 37 seconds, respectively. “We haven’t done that in a Pac-12 game yet, and it’s time to do it. Those kids will be ready to do it; I can’t wait to get in there and get them going”.It was a move made to spark the offense, which hadn’t scored since Arizona’s first three drives of the game.

While Solomon threw the go-ahead touchdown pass with Randall shaken up and out for a play, the former Bayou Bengal came back in to lead a seven-play, 35-yard drive to give Arizona what would turn out to be an insurmountable 38-24 lead. Skip forward a bunch of plays, and Colorado’s quarterback Sefo Liufau ran the ball two yards for the touchdown. Ugh! Four plays later, Liufau scored his second touchdown on a keeper from the 4. Shay Fields once again caught a 30-yard pass for a touchdown but went down with an injury.
