Colorado Obamacare sign-ups running almost 25 percent above a year ago
Some 49% of Americans want Trump and Congress to either expand Obamacare or continue implementing the law as it is, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation poll released Thursday. For instance, the poll showed that 50 percent of Trump supporters said they want to see the law repealed.
“The caution here for repealers is that, at the end of the day, people will care more about their insurance, their access to care and their economic security than they will about the ACA”, Altman said. His rhetoric on health care has been characteristically bombastic but vague.
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) echoed that Barrasso’s idea that replacement would be done in several smaller steps, suggesting that even if Republicans offer three years of transition time for the ACA to be replaced, Congress could pass legislation in the meantime that would solve specific problems.

Although Republicans are now trying to work out policies that will assuage insurers’ financial concerns during the interim period between Obamacare’s repeal and its replacement, no solutions have been worked out. The complex undertaking is fraught with political risk, because success is not guaranteed. The lawmaker stressed that the healthcare law should not merely be amended and that it must be repealed and replaced with better alternatives. Surely, you jest. Jeopardizing the health care of 20 million people without any replacement plan in the works-any preliminary haggling with your fellow congressional members to see what’s possible-couldn’t possibly be more irresponsible. Ryan and Price have both linked a Medicare overhaul to their effort to repeal Obamacare.
The poll also revealed an apparent contradiction in Trump voters’ feelings about the law. In contrast, 30 percent of Americans expressed support for expanding the law, while 19 percent said they hoped legislators would move forward with the law as is.
While many Americans don’t want the law completely scrapped, some do want it scaled back (17 percent in November vs. 9 percent in October).
It is becoming increasingly more likely that instead of a repeal, the law will be scaled down and revised under President Trump.
