Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood Suspect Appears in Court
The serenity of Colorado’s crisp winter air was shattered with a burst of gunfire on November 28 when Robert Lewis Dear invaded the Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs.
A total of 179 counts were read against him.
At one point, Dear simply yelled: “Protect babies!”
Proclaiming “I will not meet with him again”, Dear repeatedly chided his attorney, who represented James Holmes after Holmes killed 12 people and wounded dozens more in an Aurora theater during the premier of the Batman movie “The Dark Knight Rises”.
The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Fern Roberta Delise, was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Correctional Felony for suspicion of menacing. However, several media outlets, citing law enforcement sources, have reported that Dear uttered the phrase “no more baby parts” in statements to investigators following his arrest.
Fern Delise from Fountain, located south of Colorado Springs, called a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs but was rerouted to the clinic in Denver. “The babies. That’s what they want to seal”. Holmes this year was given multiple life sentences.
Dear, from SC, is due back in court on 23 December.
Police say he opened fire, injuring nine people and killing three.
“Could you add the babies that were supposed to be aborted that day?” When the judge and attorneys discussed sealing the case documents, Dear said: “Seal the truth, huh?”
Hit in the hand, the officer asked for help – he had just arrived at the chaotic scene and didn’t know if the gunman was approaching him to finish him off. “I will shoot him if he moves toward you, brother”, another officer replied.
Some Planned Parenthood leaders and supporters openly wondered whether the shooting was an act of anti-abortion terrorism possibly inspired by a recent surge of criticism of Planned Parenthood among conservatives.
“I think there’s a lot of belief that this qualifies as a form of domestic terrorism”, said Dawn Laguens, Planned Parenthood’s chief experience officer.
“Do you know who this lawyer is?” he added, referring to King.
Dear has lived in remote locations without electricity or water and was known to hold survivalist ideas.
