Colorado Woman Found Dead In Vienna
The 25-year-old’s half-undressed body was found in a pool of blood in her apartment at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
US authorities have identified her as Lauren Mann.
Police and firefighters, who forced open her door, found her body in her bedroom next to what they called a “considerable amount of blood”.
While an autopsy report has yet to be completed as of Wednesday, police are treating the case as a homicide case, Vienna Police spokesperson Thomas Keiblinger told NBC News.
All the light bulbs in her apartment were burnt out and had to be replaced before a forensics team could investigate, according to The Local, an English-language Austrian newspaper.
An American woman has been found dead in her flat in Vienna, Austrian police have confirmed. Detectives have now ordered a toxicological report to check if she had any suspicious substance in her bloodstream.
Ms Mann had majored in French at the University of Colorado before settling in Vienna to take up German. The Local adds she had been there for about three years.
A police spokesman told USA media the woman’s body was discovered on Tuesday after she failed to show up for work. Her employer said she was ‘very reliable’ and had therefore thought it was unusual when she didn’t turn up for work.
